Class Description:

Dive into the addictive and experimental world of Gelli plate printing! Hosted by Laura Moore, this workshop explores the creative freedom of monoprinting to help you make unique, gallery-ready art.

In the first half of the class, you will learn the fundamentals of using a Gelli plate—a soft silicone surface that allows you to create unique, one-of-a-kind textures and layered prints without a press. We will explore color mixing, stenciling, masking, and using organic materials to pull stunning abstract prints.

Once your prints are dry, you will select your three favorite compositions to mount onto cradled wood panels to complete your pieces.

What You Will Learn:

• Gelli Basics: How to use brayers, acrylics, and texture tools on the gel plate.

• Composition: Techniques for layering colors and patterns to create depth.

• Mounting: How to properly adhere paper prints to a rigid wood panel.

What is Provided:

This is a fully immersive, stress-free experience!

Absolutely all materials are provided, including:

• 8x10 Gelli plates and 4-inch rubber brayers (for in-class use)

• Three 6x6 cradled wood panels per student

• A wide selection of acrylic paints

• Printmaking paper, gel medium, and cutting tools

What to Bring:

• Clothing: Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on!

• Optional Textures: Feel free to bring personal stencils, white tissue paper, your favorite acrylic paint colors, lace, or dried botanicals to customize your textures.
